Israel's Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has awarded grants totaling NIS 13.4 million (approximately $4.1 million) to 18 projects spanning renewable energy, electric vehicle infrastructure, and agricultural technology — underscoring the government's push toward its 30% renewable energy target by 2030. Among the notable recipients is eStreet Energy, which plans to convert existing streetlights into electric vehicle charging stations, and SolarWin, which aims to integrate solar panels with agricultural operations in a dual-use approach that maximizes land efficiency. The grants form part of a broader national effort to more than double Israel's renewable energy capacity from the current 7,500 megawatts to 16,000 megawatts by 2030. Solar energy is expected to account for roughly 90 percent of renewable power generation, leveraging the country's 300-plus days of annual sunshine. Enlight Renewable Energy continues to lead large-scale wind development through its Genesis Wind project in the Golan Heights — the largest renewable energy project in Israel at 207 MW of installed capacity across 39 turbines. The project includes an innovative radar-assisted shutdown system to protect the local vulture population. Construction on what will be Israel's largest solar power plant — covering approximately 3 square kilometers — is scheduled to begin in 2026. The government is also introducing nationwide tenders for large-scale solar projects in the Negev and Golan Heights regions. Industry analysts estimate Israel will need to invest more than $23 billion over the coming decade to build the solar energy and power storage installations necessary to match current electricity production levels. The investment will span utility-scale solar farms, household photovoltaic units, wind energy, and biomass facilities. Key industry players driving the transition include Arava Power, Doral Energy, Enlight Renewable Energy, and Energix Renewables, all of which have significant project pipelines across Israel.
