The Israel Innovation Authority has announced a NIS 2 billion ($550 million) national research initiative focused on developing 6G telecommunications technology. The program will bring together leading Israeli tech companies, universities, and the military's signals intelligence unit to position Israel as a leader in next-generation connectivity.
The initiative will fund research in terahertz communication, AI-native networking, digital twin infrastructure, and quantum-safe encryption protocols.
Strategic Importance
"Telecommunications infrastructure is a matter of national security and economic competitiveness," said Innovation Authority Chairman Dror Bin. "By investing early in 6G, we ensure Israel remains at the cutting edge."
The first phase of research grants will be awarded by Q3 2026, with commercial applications expected to emerge by 2030.
