Israel Railways made its first-ever appearance at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, drawing crowds of industry leaders, investors, and innovators to its booth in the Israel National Pavilion. The national rail operator demonstrated real-world deployments of transformative AI and sensor technologies that promise to make railways safer, faster, more sustainable, and far less disruptive to build and maintain. Among the standout technologies on display was Exodigo's AI-powered remote-sensing platform, now mounted directly on railcars in a world-first adaptation. The system generates precise 3D digital models of buried utilities and infrastructure beneath the tracks, eliminating costly "blind" digging and significantly speeding up maintenance and expansion projects across Israel's growing rail network. Israel Railways is in the midst of an ambitious expansion, with plans to double track mileage by 2040 and build approximately 800 km of new lines. The government has approved the quadrupling of the coastal line between Tel Aviv and Haifa, with two fast tracks suitable for 250 km/h speeds that would reduce journey times to just 30 minutes. These innovations showcased at CES underline the operator's commitment to smart, technology-driven growth. The CES debut also highlighted Israel's broader push toward full electrification of the national rail network, bringing quiet, eco-friendly electric trains to northern and southern regions. Full electrification is expected to deliver faster, cleaner, and more reliable services while dramatically reducing emissions across the network.
